[/caption]I have quite few Landy series... they are : SC-HDTP, STW, SC-CNVS, LC-PU, LC-CNVS, and one SC-HDTP engine conversion (if you do not know what I am talking about, you probably go to the wrong website), so in all I have six land rover series already. I wander myself, why do I need many of them, so don't even ask... :-)
Surely missus is not happy about my collections, plus I do not have the place for all of them, so I "swear" to stop collecting another land rover a few months ago.
But... this week-end someone told me that he is selling his Land rover series 6 cylinder STW. At first I am not interested, but I give it a look anyway.
To my surprise, the truck is very-very pristine, the paint is still original, very minimal dent or scratch if any, the engine is still purring smoothly. in short, it is quite rare.. even if I have more money, I won't come across this type of landy easily, so I gave up... bought it ( afger hagling a bit) and I am now end up with 7 landys.. my God...
I am not regretting it tough... in fact I am very happy to have this one, but I need to let go some of my landy, otherwise missus will not let me in to the house.. :-)
Now about the engine, how different is she compare to 2.25? here is some spec:
6cyl, 2.6L

You see the difference? Although 6 cyl generally is much thirstier than 4 cyl, but for big and heavy Station Wagon, I think there will be not much different due to the weight of the truck. 4cyl may actually consume more fuel.

mas, aku lagi nyari nyari landy nih, domisiliku di Banda Aceh (very limited resources), but last month a good friend of mine told me that one of his neighbor owned a Land Rover series IIA 1966 and it stored in the garage since 1999 (after his father passed away).
According to my friend the engine was fine before it sleep in 1999, simply because the children was not interesting of maintaining an old car and simply because they don`t know how to treat landy. So I went there and found out a very well maintained land rover both interior and exterior, I almost cry my self.
Questions :
1. What are the differences between series III and series IIA
in terms of engine capacities, capabilities, e.t.c.
2. Someone offered me series III 4 cyl but the need a lot of
work in the body and interior (the engine still OK)
3. If I decide to do engine conversion to Tdi200, how much much
it will cost me for a good used engine in the market ?
4. If you are in my position which one you prefer, series III
or the well maintained series IIA ?
Seri III dan IIA hampir sama saja, bedanya biasanya di gearbox dan mesinnya, gear box untuk IIA gigi 1,2 nya tidak pakai syncromesh jadi harus pakai teknik double de clutch yang sudah saya bahas juga disini. Untuk Landy afficionados, landy IIA is actually add some character..:-).Sedangkan mesinnya untuk Seri III yang baru sudah memakai 5 metal,orang bilang lebih anteng dan halus, tapi saya bilang Bedanya tipis, tidak ada perbedaan tenaga di antara keduanya
Dalam membeli landy yang paling penting adalah chassisnya kalau chassisnya hancur lebih baik di jual kiloan saja he he he.. kecuali kalau bisa dapet chassis baru atau bisa betulin chassisnya.
Engine conversion is not worth it, if the original engine is OK, muahal banget, kalau mau 200 tdi mending beli defender, jangan ngrusak Series.
Dari yang anda omongin, I will definitely choose IIA... Happy rovering Cheers...

we are looking for a long chassis, series and original (if we could have one) also a bright (is this the correct word to name a sophisticated vehicle like Landrover ?) one.... he..he..
