OEM means Original Equipment Manufacturer - in other words, the supplier of the pars the vehicle manufacturer buys in. This includes parts like bearings, seals, brake and clutch parts, electrical components, fuel system parts, pistons and so on.
The brands to look out for are Lucas (electrics and hydraulics), Girling (part of Lucas, for bearings, UJs and hydraulics), GKN (again, part of Lucas, bearings and hydraulics), Timken (bearings), Valeo (clutch), Borg & Beck (clutch), Lockheed (brake shoes), AE/Heppolite (engine pistons). In their own boxes, they'll typically be between 1/3 and 1/5 the price of the same component as a LR boxed part, but will be from the same production batches, so quality is identical.

Thanks for educating people on OEM parts. It keeps my industry alive and everyone working, which is what we like to see.
