For those who replaced their original leaf spring in the series land rover with the parabolic one, you might have to change your dampers (shock breaker / absorber) as well, why...? because oil based dampers (which usually in the original series lad rover) will not cope with the parabolic spring. It will heated in around 10 minutes and loose the damping effect, it will be quite dangerous in the "critical" journey. But there is also what so called "uprated" oil based shock breaker that OK for parabolic spring though... but I recommend the gas (usually nitrogen) based shock absorber.
Now what dampers is suitable for the series land rover with parabolic spring? the answer is Many... but I have 2 brands in mind which are Old Man Emu (OME) and Pro Comp. actually I bought one of the brand and quite satisfied with it. This following is the type that suitable for parabolic spring in our series landy
==============================
Old Man Emu
Type of series ==> F/R ==> Part # ==> Type ==> Factory Ref
SER 88"-109" ==> Front ==> N78 ==> Med ==> 501444 & 502532HD
SER 80" 86" 88" ==> Rear ==> N90 ==> Med ==> 501445
SER 107" 109" ==> Rear ==> N69 ==> Med ==> 27693
SER 109" ==> Rear ==> N44 ==> HD
Please make sure that the bushing is right for your landy it must use OMEB9 bushing to fit these to 88" or 109". except N44
HD= heavy duty (firm), Med = medium (less firm)
PRO COMP
ES 3000 and ES 9000
ES 9000 is stiffer than ES3000, but some says it is alright for general purpose.
=========================
Please note that the front bushing is the same for both 109" and 88" but the rear is not the same make sure that you have it correct. I think it is good for original leaf spring as well, so if your old shock absorber is shot or too old, you might as well replace with this one. The only down side is the price, it cost about twice as the oil based, but quality wise... it is worth it.
